I haven't even gone to the cavern part (no shadow realm in the first map I'm making).so, it will still be a while for it to be finished. I've probably spent 15+ hours over a period of 2 days on making this map, and I'm not even close to being done. The editing tools for Shadow of Magic are actually rather awesome and easy to learn. This game is actually the closest I can get, without it taking ages to learn or making custom models, that I can get to how my book is. I actually haven't really played the game besides the tutorial, I just really want to make my map that is based off my book I published. I bought the trilogy, played through tutorial of first game.and went to the third game (well not technically the third, but I guess expansion?) to make a custom map. And, I'd rather just use this thread than make and maintain a new one. I do have a question, hence bumping up this ancient thread. The game is on sale on both Gamersgate (where I got mine) and Steam. SM was still a fun game, just lacked some over the top crazyness of the first. Eventually you could build up bad ass heroes, but it took a long time and some extremely advanced buildings (like the one that let you forge weapons). Your avatar spent all his time in his castle and you had to put more tought into which towns would grow. The down side was that it was poorly balanced and the AI was fairly stupid. Things like flooding the world or lowering everyone's alignment to everyone else (you can have towns with different races than yours, that spell would make most of them rebel). It also had over the top gobal spells I don't think SM matched. It was a blast! Every time someone attacked you you could hit them back, drain their life and stun them. In the first you can build yourself the most amazing avatar, a warrior that would be nearly (if not completely) impossible to kill. I'd say AoW 1 is more fun but AoW:SM is a better game. Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't AOW 2 basically AOW 1 and Shadow Magic more of the sequel?Īnyways.
